David Lough wins 2016 Somervell Award

Prize for Lord Randolph’s Gold article in Finest Hour

The editorial board of Finest Hour, the quarterly journal of The Churchill Centre, is to present its 2016 Somervell Award for best article to David Lough for his piece titled Lord Randolph’s Legacy: Shares not Sacks of Gold . The article appeared in the journal’s fall edition of 2015, no.170.

David Lough is the author of No More Champagne: Churchill and His Money which was short-listed for the UK’s Longman History Today 2016 Book of the Year prize.

The Somerville Award judges cited Lough’s ‘substantial findings based on original research that made a significant contribution to the historical records’.  The award will be presented at the opening dinner of the Churchill Centre International Conference in Washington D.C. on Thursday 27 November.
